WATER TRAINING

This is a private lake with on site parking, indoor bathrooms, a covered pavilion and boats for us to use.  Because it is a private facility there will be a $20/dog/day charge payable on sign-up.  We will start with 3 dates in July and can add more dates if there is enough interest.

The goal of the water training sessions are to prepare the dogs for the NCA Water Tests. Training for WD, WRD, and WRDX will be accommodated.  Both experienced and dogs new to water training are welcome.  Handlers will be expected to make time to do Land Training at home between water sessions in order to keep their dog progressing.

All dogs are required to be leashed or crated if they are not working in the water.  All participants working in or near the water must wear a life vest and water shoes.  Dogs may wear a life vest, but it is not required.

  We recommend the book, Water Dog Water Play by Judy Adler if you would like to get started with the Land Training exercises at home, learn about the required equipment and review the test exercises.
